Resolutions

Wow! It's 2009 already and although I didn't sleep through the transition from 2008 to the new year (Leo did), I kept it mellow. Had a sip of wine (we gave away all the champagne to friends last week) and called it a night.

Yesterday, being the year's end, seemed like the perfect time to look at resolutions and think of the ones worth making - realistically.

For one, I am not resolving to lose 20 pounds in the shortest amount of time - like, a month (which I resolved to do same time last year, and look where that got me...10 more pounds!). In that area, I'm going to have to take it one pound at a time.

So, aside from losing a few pounds (and then some!), I resolve:

1. To set aside time for myself each day (away from the computer) to meditate and revive my meditation and yoga practice
2. Be in control of our finances - both as a couple, and in my practice. No more tossing receipts to the side to be compiled "later."
4. To create my art, spin and knit without that dreaded expectation for "perfection" - just let the muse speak, so to speak...
5. Start eating healthy! No more sisig (we came up with sisig to deal with all the leftover lechon we ended up with for Christmas!)!

Leo spent hours chopping and deboning all the leftover lechon so we could experiment with making sisig, a Filipino dish that is usually eaten while chugging on some San Miguel beer! After all the chopping, we sauteed some ginger, lots of onions, some garlic and then added the chopped meat. Let it simmer a bit then added some soy sauce, lemon juice, native vinegar, salt and pepper. Oh, and don't forget the hot peppers!

It was excellent, but I need to go on a vegetarian diet for awhile, or maybe eat lots of oatmeal to lower my cholesterol level. And to think that before I met Leo, I was vegetarian!

Hmmm...I could go on and on, so I'm going to stop for now and leave you with a New Year greeting I received last night from my aunt...

After serious & cautious consideration . . .
Your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2009!

It was a very hard decision to make. So try not to screw it up!!!

My Wish for You in 2009:

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!
May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy.
May the problems you had forget your home address!

In simple words . . . May 2009 be the bestyear of your life!!!

That sisig looks yum. And I don't really eat meat anymore. Love your family pic, it's a really beautiful one. Happy New Year!
